Heading 1

Displacement and Refugees

Millions of South Sudanese have been forced to flee their homes due to ongoing violence and instability. Approximately 2.4 million people have become refugees in neighboring countries, while another 2.3 million are internally displaced within South Sudan. Many families have been separated for years, living in overcrowded camps with limited access to shelter and safety.

Food Insecurity and Humanitarian Need

Food insecurity is one of the most serious consequences of the conflict. An estimated 9.4 million people require humanitarian assistance, and approximately 7.1 million face acute food insecurity. Ongoing violence has disrupted farming, trade, and aid delivery, making it difficult for many communities to access enough food and clean water.

Violence Against Civilians

Civilians have been heavily affected by the fighting. Reports from humanitarian organizations describe widespread killings, sexual violence, and attacks on villages. Women and children are especially vulnerable, often facing displacement, rape, assault, and murder. In many areas, basic safety and protection are not guaranteed.

Loss of Infrastructure and Services

The conflict has also damaged essential infrastructure across the country. Hospitals, schools, and transportation systems have been destroyed or disrupted. As a result, access to healthcare, education, and clean water remains extremely limited in many regions.

Humanitarian Crisis

The combination of displacement, hunger, and ongoing violence has created a long-term humanitarian crisis. International organizations continue to provide emergency aid, but access is often limited due to insecurity and lack of infrastructure.
